Cosy Autumn Breaks

10 October 2016

With the nights drawing in and the first frosts on the horizon, it’s time to think about escaping to a cosy country inn for a few days.  Hunker down by blazing fires in beamed bars and rest and refuel having explored local towns and markets, or following an invigorating downland or coastal walk. To whet your appetite, here are six super-cosy pubs with rooms to consider for that all-important country escape.

The Lister Arms, Malham, North Yorkshire

Be quick and book one of the comfortable rooms at this 17th-century inn deep in the Dales, as it’s the perfect autumn retreat for jaw-dropping views and stunning moorland and valley walking. Explore the paths around Malham Cove & Tarn, then settle down in front of the roaring fire with a pint and a plate of warming food. Skipton and Harrogate are within striking distance if you are in need of some retail therapy.

The perfect bolthole for rural rambles, shopping in Stow-on-the-Wold, and a visit to the farm shop at Daylesford Organics just down the road.
